What to avoid when writing your CV:
- Avoid phrases such as “I am a hard worker” as they are vague and overused, rather describe your industry specific skills, experience and achievements. By doing so, this will impress your employer.
- Avoid gaps in your CV as it may look to employers as though you have not been doing anything during that period.
- Avoid putting unnecessary information such as your hobbies or interests unless they are somehow relevant to the jobs or companies you are applying to.
- Avoid using informal and plain language. It is important to use formal, grammatically correct and persuasive language.
- Avoid having an unprofessional email address. Having an unprofessional email address seems to the employer as though you are not serious about your job.
